HOPP ZUG!

Massive congratulations to the Zug U10 team, who made the club proud at the Swiss National Competition in Fribourg on 16 November 2024. On a cold and demanding day, the team remained unbeaten, achieving four impressive wins and a hard-fought draw. The character, resolve, and teamwork they displayed were nothing short of inspirational.

The team secured solid victories against Riviera, Hermance, Palezieux Valais, and Yverdon, and, in a third consecutive game with no breaks in between, capped the day with a come-from-behind draw against Terre Sainte Nyon. To remain unbeaten at the Swiss Nationals is a testament to their determination and skill—a remarkable achievement! Despite the decision not to rank teams officially, we’ll hold onto the knowledge that no one got the better of us!

Individual Highlights

  • Youri: Dominated with his strength, delivering massive runs and tackles and scoring great tries.
  • Connor: A powerhouse in the rucks, winning crucial ball and making brave, ferocious tackles.
  • Mathis: Showed immense growth, fearlessly getting stuck into tackles whenever needed.
  • Antoine: Demonstrated silky handling for a forward, with a standout offload to set up a brilliant try.
  • Henri: Engaged defenders with strong runs, consistently drawing in multiple opponents.
  • Dylan: Executed the team’s Bulldozer move to perfection, carrying the ball powerfully and refusing to go down easily.
  • Sid: Always active, running excellent support lines and putting in critical tackles.
  • Caiden: A sharp and dynamic scrumhalf, slicing through defenses with precision.
  • Raphael: Versatile in both Scrumhalf and Outside Back roles, using his speed to score key tries, including a highlight against his former teammates.
  • Leo: Showed maturity in the first receive channel, working hard to keep structure on attack and also had a great individual score with a beautifully timed dummy. Also provided a great post-tournament impromptu speech to teammates.
  • Evan: Played like he’d never taken a break from rugby, excelling in tackles, runs, and scoring great tries.
  • Cruz: Adapted well to a hybrid forward-outside back role, making good runs at the opposition.
  • Lachlan: A defensive dynamo, continuing his streak of outstanding tackling from previous tournaments.
