This past weekend’s tournament in Winterthur was a well-arranged event blessed with plenty of sunshine, making for a perfect day on the pitch to showcase entertaining rugby.

Zug fielded two balanced strength teams, both of which went unbeaten in their respective pools. Despite facing tough competition, particularly from some physically larger teams, our players showcased superior decision-making in the most important moments which was complemented with exceptional attacking play.

The highlight of the tournament was undoubtedly the final, where our two teams, Zug White and Zug Blue, faced off in a thrilling match. In a closely fought contest, Zug White emerged victorious with a narrow 5-4 win over Zug Blue. As reward for their efforts, the winnings for first and second place were delicious chocolates, which were shared amongst all the players. This gesture highlighted the squad’s collective effort and camaraderie, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and shared success.

The coaching team expressed their satisfaction with the squad’s performance, noting that the focus points from training are starting to be implemented effectively on the pitch. This strong showing bodes well for several important tournaments in the coming weeks before the winter break.
