With a heavily depleted squad Zug U19 travelled to Valais to play the entente team from Riviera, Team Valais and Yverdon in what was a very close game with many errors and tight margins.
Zug started brightly enough receiving the kick off and pressing forward to wina. penalty on the 22, which they chose to kick and opened the scoring, 3-0. However a strong and spirited opposition roared back from the restart and pressed high in Zugs territory, quickly getting towards the try line and pushing over for the opening try. Zug were behind 3-7.
The game continued to ebb and flow for the first half with lots of errors by both sides ina. very physical match. The half ended 12-15 to Zug.
A Zug try within 3 minutes of the restart was answered swiftly by another opposition try a few minutes later and it seemed the game was too tight to call. However, three tries on 55, 60 and 65 minutes for Zug looked to put the game beyond reach at 19-37, or so Zug thought. The home team had different ideas and put up a final huge effort and managed another two tries in quick succession around 65 minutes to leave Zug facing a nervous few minutes of defending to hold on for the 31-37 win.
Huge effort from the Zug players to keep the winning streak going even when things are not going to plan, just never give up!
